How sharing works

Medical cost sharing, explained properly.

The Comprehensive membership includes sharing through Zion HealthShare, a non-profit community where members contribute monthly toward each other's eligible medical needs. It is not insurance, and it does not behave like insurance. These pages go through the parts that actually matter when something happens.

The short version

1 · Something happens

A surgery, an ER visit, a diagnosis. You choose where you are treated. There is no network.

2 · You open a sharing request

Before the appointment for anything planned. Within six months either way. Tell the provider you are self-pay.

3 · You pay your IUA, members share the rest

Eligible costs beyond your Initial Unshareable Amount are shared by the community.

Two things are worth knowing before you need them: the IUA works per medical need rather than per year, and a household never pays more than three in a rolling twelve months.
