There is no network
This is the part people take longest to believe, because it is the opposite of how insurance trained everyone to think.
There is no list of approved hospitals. No in-network and out-of-network. Nobody checks whether the surgeon you want is on a panel, because there is no panel. You choose the doctor, the hospital and the facility, and eligibility does not depend on which one you picked.
Why that matters in a state this size
Montana has a small number of hospitals spread over a very large area. The nearest facility is often the only realistic facility, and specialist care regularly means Seattle, Salt Lake City or Denver.
A membership that stops working at the state line, or at the edge of a network drawn by somebody in another state, is not much use here. Eligible needs are shared wherever in the United States you are treated.
Travelling
Eligible sharing applies anywhere in the U.S., including while you are travelling. Emergency needs abroad are eligible under Zion's guidelines, which matters if you leave the country occasionally and would rather not buy a separate policy each time.
Your CoreMed primary care is a Montana thing, because that is where the clinics are. The sharing side is not.
What this does not mean
No network is not the same as no rules. Eligibility is set out in the membership documents you receive before you join, and some things are not eligible regardless of where they happen. What it does mean is that the location and the provider are never the reason something is turned down.

Common questions
Can I be treated outside Montana?
Yes. Eligible needs are shared anywhere in the United States. A major cancer centre in another state is not off the table.
Is there an in-network and out-of-network?
No. There is no network, so the distinction does not exist.
What if something happens while I am abroad?
Emergency needs abroad are eligible under Zion's guidelines. Routine care abroad is not.
Does my CoreMed doctor work outside Montana?
Your CoreMed clinic is in Montana, and telehealth reaches you wherever you are. In-person primary care means coming back to your clinic.
